Nubian/Egyptian Frame Drum Workshop

Join us for an uplifting and fun workshop in Nubian/Egyptian frame drumming with percussionist and specialist in Arabic drumming, Tim Garside. The drum is often descried as the heartbeat of a song and the frame drum is one of the oldest of drums. Join in the friendly circle and discover how the drum was traditionally used and learn the basic techniques and rhythms.
Tim Garside is much in demand as a percussionist and musician specialising in Middle Easten music. He has worked with many prestigious artists including Cheb Mami, Hakim, Natacha Atlas, Hossam Ramzy’s Egyptian Ensemble, Viguen, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Maddy Prior, Mike Oldfield, David Arnold, The Royal Shakespeare Company,“Titanic” composer James Horner. As well as teaching at RADA, Trinity School of Music and many universities he has been teaching Egyptian percussion to primary school children in and around London for over 20 years.
The workshop is suitable for all ages and instruments will be provided.
