Join us for a special evening of raw and hypnotic sounds with Gnawa London. Gnawa music, brought to Morocco by formerly enslaved black Africans, is marked by rhythmic guembri (traditional lute) melodies and call and response singing. Gnawa London are an African Moroccan band led by Master Simo Lagnawi. Lagnawi, ambassador of Gnawa culture in UK, was nominated for 2 Songlines awards for 2014 Best Newcomer and Best Artist. His Solo Debut Album ‘Gnawa London’ released in 2013 with Walk records was featured in Songlines magazine as one of their ‘Top of the World Albums’.
Gwana London have been featured on the BBC World Service, CNN World, BBC 3 ,BBC 6,Vox Africa & Other as well as performed festivals including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Latitude, Boom Town and more.
