Sound and Solidarity (03)

Music Session

16/08/22 7pm

Free

RSVP below for this in person event. Tickets are limited, please only book if you are sure to come. Please note the date for this event has changed to 16 August.

Explore solidarity through sound and contribute to our third collective listening session presented by Sound Advice with Arman Nouri.

Each participant will be invited to pick a song and an artefact to share with the group to start the conversation. In the gathering, participants will use music to help articulate their approach to challenging colonialism and offering solidarity. Sound Advice suggest ‘Listening to music collectively will create an immaterial space for everyone to share personal experience and cultivate a space for solidarity.’ The discussion will be audio recorded, and the transcript of the recording will be used for a text-based project.

Sound Advice is a platform exploring spatial inequality through music. Through experimenting with a range of projects, always developed through different mediums, designers and urbanists Pooja Agrawal and Joseph Henry debate provocative issues and create alternative visions of the future to secure a more equitable and plural urban environment using lyrical tips and music culture.

Joseph Henry is a designer and urbanist and is the co-host of Sound Advice, a platform for exploring inequalities in architecture and the built environment. He is also a public servant working in spatial development in London and a trustee of the Russell Maliphant Dance Company.

Arman Nouri is a cultural worker designing and delivering projects across the built environment, cultural and public sectors. He currently leads The Mayor of London’s Culture & Community Spaces at Risk programme. He is a co-founder of multi-disciplinary studio Kin Structures. More about Arman Nouri
