FreeInspired by Tales From Two Cities, families will make artworks together by crafting different stories side by side. In this session the participants, both children and parents/carers, will collaborate to create artworks based on stories from two cities. The artworks will be placed together to temporarily create different narratives.
This session is facilitated by both Dia Batal and Elias Matar.
Elias Matar is a Palestinian play specialist, drama therapist, workshop facilitator, performer and founder of the El Bayet Centre for Performing Arts & Drama Therapy. Elias holds an MA in Drama and Movement Therapy from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Prior to this qualification, he attained a BA in Social Theatre.
Dia Batal is a London based Palestinian artist. She has completed her design studies in Beirut, and an MA in Design, Critical Practice at Goldsmiths College. The multidisciplinary work she produces is context specific and often enables audience to engage with it. Dia uses Arabic language and text to create artworks that echo cultural and contemporary concerns into our urban public, and private spaces.
Suitable for children aged 5+
All children must be accompanied by parents/carers throughout the session.
