The dancers’ garden by Alaa Satir

Opening Party

Free

Please RSVP below.

Join the opening day of The dancers’ garden, a new interactive artwork for families created by artist Alaa Satir at The Mosaic Rooms. The dancers’ garden is inspired by Alaa’s fictional tale of two dancers who travel from a place by the river Nile to a garden where they can share their art and dance and be free to make music. The dancers in Alaa’s story are presented in this multi-sensory installation. Follow the birds around The Mosaic Rooms’ garden to find the sculpture of the two women, then together you can dance, draw and play! The artwork includes a sand pit, musical instruments and drawing activities.

Meet the artist and be the first to explore this new installation for young visitors. You can also enjoy a free scoop of Darlishi’s ice cream to celebrate the opening of The dancers’ garden.

Most of the activities in The dancers’ garden are suitable for children aged 4 and over, but younger children are welcome. Parents must take responsibility for the safety of their children whilst playing in the garden.

Alaa Satir (b. 1990, Khartoum) is a visual artist and designer. Her stylised graphic works have a bold and distinctive style, often featuring women as the central figures. Satir’s work came to prominence during the Sudanese revolution of 2018, when her large-scale murals of her figures highlighting the role of women in the revolution and celebrating the demands of the revolutionaries reached online audiences internationally. Currently based in London for her master studies at UAL, Satir was commissioned to develop this new work
