A story of star-crossed lovers, Bushra and Makram. Parted in the 60s when Bushra emigrates to the US, after Makram’s imprisonment for resisting the Israeli occupation, the pair meet again years later when she returns to Jerusalem at the height of the first Intifada.

In 2002, Israeli and Palestinian filmmakers, Eyal Sivan and Michel Khleifi, travelled the length of their country of birth. Tracing their trajectory on a map, they called it ‘Route 181’ after United Nations Resolution 181 – the 1947 partition plan to split Palestine into two states: one Arab and one Jewish.
