Yazz Ahmed live at The Mosaic Rooms

Alhaan Al Siduri
Thursday 5 May, 8pm
£10

Join us for a very special live performance of the Yazz Ahmed Quartet, featuring singer Brigitte Beraha.

Award-winning composer and trumpeter Yazz Ahmed presents Alhaan Al Siduri, music inspired by traditional Bahraini pearl divers songs, a genre known as fidjeri, or sea music.  The British-Bahrani musician describes the piece as “a combination of fragments of traditional Bahraini songs, translated into English and my own daydreams, musings on my homeland, written in this melancholy style”. It was commissioned by Birmingham Jazzlines as part of their fellowship scheme.

Yazz Ahmed has performed at Ronnie Scotts, the Vortex and the Manchester Jazz Festival and played with musicians including Radiohead and Lee Scratch Perry.
