Performance | Amman 2024 by Intibint
Friday 25 Sep, 7pm
For this special performance as part of the programme songs these jaws cannot hold, Intibint will perform a live and electronic set with Kareem Samara on oud. The set will combine covers of revolutionary Arab songs, merged with field recordings from Yemen in collaboration with filmmaker Albaraa Mansour, as well as field recordings by Intibint recorded in Jordan during her first family reunion of her family since the Yemen war began in 2015.
Combining music with personal recordings and revolutionary songs, the set is rooted in nostalgia, calling for homecoming and imagining resistance and does so in community.

ARTIST
Intibint is the moniker of UK-based Yemeni producer, singer-songwriter, visual artist, and DJ Noha. Born in London and raised between the UK and Yemen, Intibint makes music that moves between the personal and the collective, combining emotional directness with political resonance. Rooted in electronic production, her sound crosses downtempo, alt-R&B and hip-hop while drawing on Yemeni musical traditions. Her live performances bring together vocals, field recordings, original productions and reworked traditional and revolutionary Arabic songs from Yemen, Palestine and Sudan.
Kareem Samara is an improviser and composer from London. Combining the Oud and Arabic percussion with loopers and samplers, he creates a new dialogue between himself and technology, between traditions and the future. He pushes the limits of what is expected of an instrument weighed down by generations of expectation, exploring every inch of the Oud to create a modern soundworld. He is member of 1000 Pounds to Survive Us and founder of the improvisational ensemble, I.E. Us.
