Moving Images, Moving Voices
21 March 2026
1-3:30pmFree, drop-in
Join us for the second session of Play Lab: Lum’a with a multi-sensory film workshop led by filmmaker and art facilitator Nia Fekri.
Inspired by the exhibition Bouchra Khalili: Circles and Storytellers, this workshop invites children and their grown ups to explore storytelling through moving image and sound.
You will draw and scratch directly onto strips of 16mm film, discovering how marks transform into moving images when projected. Then step inside the film itself as it is projected through fabric and onto walls, experimenting with live cinema and playing with voices and bodies as images shift, flicker and dance through the space.
Alongside this, multi-sensory installations invite children to explore textures, surfaces and light in different ways – opening playful moments for curiosity, movement and discovery.
This is a space for exploration, experimentation, and joyful sharing – where children watch their creations come alive and see how their marks, movements and sounds shape moving images in real time.

Stories in Motion
7 April 2026
1-4pmFree, drop-in
Join us for the second session of Play Lab: Lum’a, where stories emerge through play, movement, and imagination. This playroom invites children into an immersive space where characters, worlds, and narratives shift across materials, light, and performance.
In this playroom, children will move freely between making and playing, building worlds with sets and projections, creating characters through puppets and costumes, and bringing them to life through shadow, gesture, and video. In this space stories can change form, overlap, and grow through encounter and collaboration.
What’s inside:
Shadow theatre, Puppet-making, projected backdrops, and open-ended materials for building sets and shaping stories.
This is a space for curiosity, creativity, and experimentation, where children can step into their stories and shape them in their own way designed by Chahine Fellahi.
