Dirar Kalash: Orbits of Time -
مدارات الزمن
a four-channel electro-acoustic composition for double-bass and live electronics
12 March, 7-9pm
freeJoin us for the premiere of a new durational sonic composition by Dirar Kalash, an immersive live performance that traces the shifting, poetic resonances of the moon across time and space. Weaving together electronic sound, field recordings, and acoustic instrumentation, the work unfolds into a contemplative continuum of sound.
Moving between silence and presence, the composition explores how we attune ourselves to the supposed distance of historical time. Orbits of Time engages the tension between distance and proximity to and from Palestine. Layers of texture and tone emerge and dissolve, inviting a listening to what is intimate, expansive and political. It reflects on the Palestinian experience - past and ongoing.
Presented at Mosaic Rooms, the performance acts as a site-responsive sonic intervention, entering into dialogue with Dima Srouji’s permanent commission, Four Moons from Home.
Doors open: 7pm - a chance to visit Bouchra Khalili’s Circles and Storytellers and our bookshop.
Performance start: 7.30pm
End: ~9pm
