Performance: Faster than Light Always
Spring 2026
In 2024, following a performance at the V&A, The Mosaic Rooms supported British Palestinian dancer Sasha Shadid to travel to Palestine for a residency with Wonder Cabinet in Bethlehem.
Shadid continued to work on and develop the piece Faster than Light Always, a sound and dance performance in collaboration with musician Julmud and dancer Adan Azzam. The performance was part of Sounds of Places, initiated by Radio Alhara and commissioned by Wonder Cabinet.
The piece speaks to the aesthetics of the Cremisan Valley, and the way the occupation forces have been using the last green space around Bethlehem to further suffocate its community. The performance uses the body as a medium for claiming the land, celebrating its ample and smooth curves, its terraces and the bearing trees it cradles.
