Footnote to the present
Spring to summer 2026
When legal, political and cultural institutions fail us — or are actively complicit — where do we turn to seek justice? And when existing language falls short, what alternative sites of articulation become possible?
Our public programme brings together artists, filmmakers, writers, theatre makers, and those who turn to the street, to performance, and to collective rehearsal as spaces where justice can be forged and demanded.
The programme unfolds as a footnote to the present, a search for language and strategy amid uncertain times. Times marked by genocide, by the advance of totalitarianism and fascism, by grief that feels unsurmountable, under the clouds of history that still hang low. How do we preserve these stories, archive our movements, and find voice amid rupture?
Rather than seeking resolution, the programme draws on theatre's mode of play and rehearsal, as a language through which we can explore freedoms. Through these gatherings we linger in rehearsal, insist on the unfinished and the work in progress, and attune ourselves to the unexpected spaces that might arise.
With artists Dirar Kalash, Ahmed Tobasi, Yasmin Shalaldeh and Zoe Lafferty, Jasmina Metwaly and Philip Rizk, Adan Azzam, Julmud and Sasha Shadid, Joey Simons, Lobna Sana and many others, including a collaboration with MayDay Rooms and Another Sky Festival.
