Artist Talk: Bouchra Khalili
15.02.26
Join artist Bouchra Khalili for a talk through (INSERT EXHIBITION TITLE), her first UK solo exhibition. Surveying her interdisciplinary practice, the exhibition reflects on how individual memory intersects with collective history, inviting those excluded from dominant narratives to become narrators of their own experience.
The conversation will shed light on Bouchra’s practice and her interest in questions of self-representation, autonomous agency, and forms of resistance of communities rendered invisible by the nation-state model. Speaking through the exhibition at The Mosaic Rooms, the talk will highlight the artists’ exploration of developing strategies of storytelling at the intersection of history and suppressed memories.

ARTIST BIO
Bouchra Khalili is a French-Moroccan artist, born in 1975 in Casablanca. She lives in Vienna and works itinerantly. She graduated in Film & Media Studies at Sorbonne Nouvelle and Visual Arts at the Ecole Nationale d’Arts de Paris-Cergy. Encompassing film, video, installation, photography, printmaking, publishing and textile, Khalili’s practice explores imperial and colonial continuums as epitomized by contemporary instances of illegal migration and the memory of anti-colonial struggles and international solidarity. Deeply informed by the legacy of post-independence avant-gardes and the vernacular traditions of her native Morocco, Khalili.
