Footnote to the Present
Spring 2026
Coming soonThis programme unfolds as a footnote to the present: a search for language and strategy amid uncertain times; times of a genocide, of massacres, of unsurmountable grief and under the clouds of history that still hang low. How do we preserve these stories, archive our movements, and find voice amid rapture?
Without seeking resolution, the programme draws on theatre’s modes and its insistence on play and rehearsal as a language to explore freedoms.
It brings together artists, filmmakers, writers and theatre makers, alongside those who turn to the street, to performance and to collective rehearsal as sites of possibility, for forging and demanding justice.
With artists Jasmina Metwaly and Philip Rizk, Ahmed Tobbasi and Yasmin Shalaldeh, Joey Simmons and many others, including a collaboration with MayDay Rooms.
Through these gatherings, we linger in rehearsal, insist on the unfinished and the work in progress, and embrace the unexpected spaces that might arise.
