Live Event: Gardens of Illusion
11/06/15 7pm
Join us for a special live sonic performance and late opening of Corinne Silva’s exhibition Garden State with composer and sound artist Toby Wiltshire.
Offering an unexpected view on gardening, Garden State comprises photographic and sound installations exploring Israel’s suburban gardens, parks and public places. Silva explores what gardening might represent in the context of Israel’s contemporary colonisation of Palestinian territories through two bodies of work, Gardening the Suburbs and Garden State.
Toby Wiltshire will perform a special sound piece accompanying the exhibition, providing a new and evolving dimension to Silva’s work.
Toby Wiltshire (b. London, 1971) is a composer and sound artist who currently lives and works in Leeds. His work is focused on contrasting textures and depth of field, straddling the grey area between ambient music and sonic art. Toby’s previous collaborations include sound design for Corinne Silva’s short film ‘Seekers’ (2014).
