EAST invites attendees to listen and respond to a curated playlist informed by Mohamed Melehi’s love of jazz music and hard edge, abstract painting style.

In the spirit of the Casablanca Art School, which rejected western styles of academia, EAST will create an inclusive inter-generational art class for all to participate. They will explore still life, abstract painting and free form drawing in a responsive workshop that encourages guests to let loose and express their inner artist.

The curated playlist will delve into early 1960s American and African jazz archives and investigate the parallels between both movements.

Founded in September 2017 by multidisciplinary artist Rochelle White and by Bold Tendencies’ Director of Education, Sasha Morgan, Eating At the Same Table is an artist-led networking group facilitating, nurturing and supporting emerging artists, writers and curators.
