Communal dreaming and plant storytelling
Storytelling Walk
11/05/24 12pm
So much of the work of oppression is policing the imagination. ~ Saidiya Hartman
Join artist Maymana Arefin for a ramble through Tottenham Marshes in this spring beckoning, dream space and plant storytelling walk. We will wander through the marshes, collectively learning from and with each other about the plants that we meet along the way. Moving with a gentle pace, we will try to slow down to tune into our senses, to observe and to notice. To close, Maymana will share a herbal tea for relaxation, encouraging us to journal and imagine together how the season ahead could bring us closer to liberation.
This session is part of the year-long project common /play\ grounds led by yasamin and sass. common /play\ grounds sides with our new programme strand Mujaawarah (neighbouring) striving to nurture rootedness and community, shared wisdom and wellbeing.
Maymana Arefin (she/they) is a nature guide, writer, artist and community gardener based in London. Through leading nature immersions, plant and fungi walks, her work focuses on deep rest and healing and restoring our communion with our non-human kin.
