Hanoos Hanoos
In conversation with Omar Al-Qattan
18/01/14

Hanoos Hanoos was born in Iraq in 1958, where he studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad. He moved to Madrid, Spain, in 1984 where he obtained his PhD and has lived ever since. Having exhibited widely, predominantly in Spain, Threads of Light is the first opportunity for UK audiences to see his work.
This lunchtime talk offers audiences the chance to find out more about the artist’s practise. He will be in conversation with Omar Al-Qattan about the works in the exhibition and the influence of the Iraqi poet al-Bayati on this latest series of paintings. Hanoos Hanoos will also present his previous body of work, the powerful Baghdad series produced during the Iraq war, which displayed his “need as an Iraqi and painter to reflect the horror and death that was happening in my country.”
