Artist Noor Abuarafeh presents The Last Museum: Museum of all Museums, through which the artist proposes the disappearance of museums from the future. “The Museum of Museums” will be the last standing monument dedicated to preserving and documenting the existence of museums.
The work builds on Abuarafeh’s novel ‘The Earth Doesn’t Tell Its Secrets’ – His Father Once Said which chronicles the artists exploration of Palestinian art spaces and various museums, and the family houses that also double as museums.
Noor Abuarafeh is a Jerusalem-based artist working primarily with video, performance, and text. Her work addresses the memory, history, archive, and the possibilities of tracing absence. Noor has recently participated in Sharjah Biennale 13 (2017), Off-Binnial – Gaudipolis, Budapest (2017), Qalandiya International, Jerusalem (2016), INTERMOLECULAR SPACES, Aalborg (2016), Suspended Accounts, Mosaic Rooms, London (2016), Instant Videos Festival, France (2015), Salt and Water, Or Gallery, Canada (2014), and Tokyo Wonder Site, Japan (2013), among other exhibitions. She holds an MA from ECAV, Switzerland, and a BA from Bezalel Academy for Arts and Design, Jerusalem. In 2016 she was a finalist for the Emerging Voices Award and was awarded second prize in the Qattan Foundation’s Young Palestinian Artist Award.
