The Non-Aligned Art Collection Laboratory
The Non-Aligned Art Collection Laboratory is a project aiming to develop contemporary research and archival artistic practices at the Centre for Contemporary Art of Montenegro. The collection holds 800 artworks from 56 countries acquired by The Gallery of Art of the Non-Aligned Countries during its existence from 1984 – 1995. The Gallery of Art of the Non-Aligned Countries was established with the purpose of “contributing to the affirmation of the principles and goals of the non-alignment policy in the field of culture”. During the decade of its existence, the gallery organised exhibitions, symposiums, and artistic exchange in a bid for equal status in the field of culture. The intention of the laboratory today is to develop activities that contribute to historicization and new interpretations or works and histories, as well as to renew the international communications and exchanges nurtured by the very collection.
