AZEEMA Sanctuary

Workshop & Discussion

28/05/22 2pm

Free

RSVP below for this in person event.

Join AZEEMA for an intimate torshi (pickled vegetables common in Middle Eastern and Balkan cuisines) workshop and an afternoon of connection and discussion.

In this interactive workshop, participants will collectively make torshi while engaging a conversation around memory, healing, family and food. The conversation will centre stories around ecologies and practises of care that are passed down between families, generations and different cultures, specifically focusing on stories and communities from occupied lands. How are their histories preserved and remembered?

The session will be led by Êvar Hussayni, a multi-disciplinary artist whose research is focused on Kurdish genealogies, visibility, colonial violence in archives and their relationship with the trajectory of Kurdish feminism and Kurdish womanhood.

AZEEMA is a print magazine, online platform, community and creative agency, exploring women and non-binary folk within West Asia, North Africa and South Asia, diasporas and beyond.
