Stateless Heritage Everywhere

Online Workshop

30/10/21 2pm

Free

Join Dirim Dinçer and René Boer of Failed Architecture for this workshop on how heritage is exploited and how to resist this. The starts with DAAR – Sandi Hilal and Alessandro Petti’s critique that heritage is often mobilised in nationalist discourse. Workshop participants will collectively share their understanding of how current concepts of heritage erase the histories of people, buildings, stories and struggles. The workshop will develop new tactics and strategies for appropriating the fenced-off notion of heritage using real case studies.

This event is part of the public programme public programme accompanying the exhibition Stateless Heritage by DAAR – Sandi Hilal and Alessandro Petti. The programme is supported by IASPIS.

Failed Architecture reconnects architecture with the real world. By opening up new perspectives on the built environment, they seek to explore the meaning of architecture in contemporary society. Since 2011, it has provided an inclusive platform for critical urban discourse, fuelled by unconventional narratives from an international network of contributors.

Dirim Dinçer is an architect and researcher. She has been part of Failed Architecture since 2020. Her research focuses on the interface between displacement, bordering practices and modes of spatial representation. More about Dirim Dincer
